ANA BELÉN covers SANREMO-entries in Spanish


Spanish singer Ana Belén covered Eduardo de Crescenzo's "Ancora" from 1981 in Spanish as "Ahora", as well as "E se domani" by Fausto Cigliano from 1965 as "Y si mañana".

The songs are included on her 2003 cd "Viva l'Italia" with contains Spanish covers of Italian songs by Claudio Baglioni, Lucio Battisti, Ornella Vanoni, Lucio Dalla, Fabio Concato, Domenico Modugno & Francesco de Gregori.

LORETTA GOGGI live in SANREMO 1981 video



Following the link above you can watch Loretta Goggi perform "Maledetta primavera" at the Sanremo-festival 1981, reaching 2nd place. The song did not only climb to the #1 position in the Italian charts, but also became an international hit, with many coverversion in different languages.
Loretta was supposed to take part again in 1984, but only a few days before the festival she refused & Pupo then sang her song "Un amore grande" in Sanremo (coming 4th).
Loretta returned in 1986 presenting the festival.

Pupo's "Un amore grande" (which was originally thought for Loretta Goggi) as "Amore grande"(despite the title it's sung in French).

INGRID PETERS covers SANREMO-entry in German


German singer Ingrid Peters recorded a coverversion of Pino Donaggio's "Io che non vivo senza te" from 1966 as "Alle meine Träume".

Ingrid represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986, after trying already in the German finals in 1979 & 83.

They came 2nd with "Viva la mamma". At least the song title is Italian...

VICE VUKOV (1936-2008) covers SANREMO-entry in Croatian


Croatian singer Vice Vukov covered the Sanremo-winner from 1961 by Betty Curtis / Luciano Tajoli (each song was performed twice then) "Al di là" as "Iznad svega".

Vice died last week.

He also recorded a Croatian version of Edoardo Vianello's (non-Sanremo-entry) "Da molto lontano".

He represented Yugoslavia twice in the Eurovision Song Contest- in 1963 & 1965.

Tommy Körberg recorded a Swedish version of Junior Magli's Sanremo-entry "Alla fine della strada" from 1969 as "Bara du och jag".
Tommy represented Sweden twice in the Eurovision Song Contest: in 1969 & 1988.

In 1988 he came 12th (with the same amount of points as Italy's Luca Barbarossa) with "Stad i ljus".

UMBERTO MARCATO covers various SANREMO-entries


Italian born Umberto Marcato started his recording career from Sweden, where he was quite successful in the late 50's & 60's.

He usually sang in Italian covering Sanremo-winners like "Volare (Nel blu dipinto di blu)" & "Piove (Ciao, ciao bambina)" from 1958 & 1959 by Domenico Modugno / Johnny Dorelli,

"Romantica" from 1960 by Renato Rascel & Tony Dallara,

"Vola colomba" from 1952 by Nilla Pizzi,

"Al di là" from 1961 by Betty Curtis / Luciano Tajoli, which you can see on this EP, which includes also

"Le mille bolle blu" from the same year by Mina / Jenny Luna.

He also recorded "Nessuno" from 1959 by Betty Curtis / Wilma De Angelis,

"È mezzanotte" from 1960 by Joe Sentieri / Sergio Bruni,

"Casetta in Canadà" from 1958 by Carla Boni & Gino Latilla &

"Sole sole" from 1964 by Laura Villa.

His version of this latter one is a duet with Swedish singer Siw Malmkvist, which they recorded also in German.

Belgian singer SANDRA KIM covers Sanremo-entry in 2 languages




Sandra Kim recorded Pino Donaggio's "Io che non vivo senza te" from 1965 in 2 languages:


in French as "Je t'ai tout donné" and in Flemish as "Wil je eeuwig van me houden".

Another (non-Sanremo) song she recorded in both languages is Mina's "Grande grande grande".

She is the only Belgian Eurovision Song Contest winner ever.

Puerto Rican singer MILLIE covers SANREMO-entry in Spanish


Millie Corretjer covered Danilo Amerio's Sanremo-entry "Quelli come noi" from 1994 in Spanish as "Y yo sin ti".

Following the link you can watch Millie singing another Italian (non-Sanremo-entry) song: Fiordaliso's "Sola", which in Spanish has the same title.

ALEANDRO BALDI & FRANCESCA ALOTTA in SANREMO 1992 video

Aleandro had already participated in Sanremo in 1986 & 89, coming back winning in 1994 & in 1996 duetting with Marco Guerzoni.

Francesca Alotta came back to Sanremo in 1993.

Dutch singer SANDRA REEMER covers SANREMO-entries


Sandra Reemer covered Spagna's "Gente come noi" from 1995 in Dutch as "Mensen zoals jij".
In Dutch she also covered the winning entries from 1964 "Non ho l'età" from Gigliola Cinquetti as "Als jij maar wacht" & "Al di là" from Betty Curtis as "Net als wij".

She also recorded English versions of the winning song from 1991 "Se stiamo insieme" from Riccardo Cocciante as "Love is cruel" & "Perché lo fai" from Marco Masini also from 1991 as "The last goodbye".
She also covered non-Sanremo entries from Zucchero, Fiordaliso & Cocciante in English.
Following the link you can watch her 3rd attempt for the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1979 (after 1972 & 1976) singing "Colorado".

MASSIEL covers SANREMO-entry in Spanish

Spanish singer Massiel covered Fiorella Mannoia's "Come si cambia" from 1984 as "Cómo se cambia".
She also covered Adriano Celentano's "Azzurro" (non-Sanremo-entry) as "Absurdo".
Massiel was Spain's first Eurovision winner in 1968 with "La la la".
